Anthony DiLiberto

Rev. Anthony and Jamie DiLiberto serve the Lord as missionaries of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) in Puerto Rico. Anthony is helping rebuild the existing Iglesia Luterana Principe de Paz (Prince of Peace Lutheran Church) congregation in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico. Many of its members moved to the United States after the hurricane. He is also working to plant a new church in an area of the island where there currently is no Lutheran presence. In addition, Anthony is involved in the long-term disaster relief efforts at the mission’s various Casa de Amparo y Respuesta al Desastre (House of Refuge and Disaster Response) mercy houses. From these places, LCMS missionaries and Puerto Rican Lutherans offer food, water and other basic necessities to community members affected by the hurricane.

Anthony is from southern California, where his home congregation is Hope Lutheran Church in Glendora, Calif. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Christian Education Leadership with a minor in Spanish, as well as his certification as a Director of Christian Education, at Concordia University, Irvine, Calif. He received his Master of Divinity from Concordia Seminary, St. Louis. Before serving in Puerto Rico, Anthony served in Peru (2008-2014), directing earthquake relief efforts and facilitating the Peruvian Lutheran Mission’s mercy work at Casa de Misericordia – Castillo Fuerte (Mighty Fortress – House of Mercy) mercy house located in Lima, Peru.

Jamie grew up on a farm near Tobias, Neb. Her home congregation is Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Collinsville, Ill. She graduated from Concordia University Nebraska, Seward, with a bachelor’s degree in secondary education and a Lutheran teacher’s degree with concentrations in English and Spanish. Prior to serving in Puerto Rico, Jamie taught Spanish at Metro East Lutheran High School in Edwardsville, Ill., and served as a missionary in Peru (2010-2014), working closely with the Peruvian Lutheran Mission. Anthony and Jamie have three beautiful children, Eliana, Gabriella and Lucas.

Prayers

Pray for the DiLibertos as they serve in Puerto Rico. Ask God to keep them safe (especially during hurricane season). Pray for their children as they learn Spanish and adjust to life on the island. Pray the Word of God has free reign in Puerto Rico and that they would trust His Word to accomplish the purpose for which He sends it out. Pray that as they bring the mercy of Christ to the people of Puerto Rico they point people to Jesus in everything they do.
